HistoryRonnie Felix, native Arizonan and 1987 graduate of Casa Grande Union High School, lost his life in a tragic accident shortly after beginning his scholarship to Scottsdale Community College. He was an ambitious young man with a great sense of humor who loved baseball and looked forward to a promising future. As a tribute, in 1989 Ronnie’s family and friends established the Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament in Chandler, Arizona, as a fundraiser to provide scholarships for individuals who might not otherwise be able to attend college. The tournament is now an annual event that attracts hundreds of players, sponsors, spectators and friends. In 1993 the Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Foundation was established as a nonprofit organization. VisionThe spirit of Ronnie Felix continues to live by providing scholarships for young people to further their education. MissionThe Ronnie Felix Memorial Scholarship Foundation’s Board Members are focused on the continued success of fund raising activities for college scholarships. This foundation was founded and is governed by family members, and continues to be supported by the relatives and close friends of the Felix and Bernal families, who continue to volunteer their time to organize, plan and carry out the annual golf tournament.
